All containers on Runnable launch from templates. As a result, a Runnable container has 2 URLs:
This URL is derived from the name of the template the container is launched from. For example, if your container is launched from the
MongoDB template and your org name is
AcmeCorp, the Template URL for this container is going to be
mongodb-staging-AcmeCorp.runnableapp.com. This URL should is used by Runnable's internal DNS system to route traffic between Runnable containers.
Use the Template URL when trying to connect to another Runnable template. This will allow Runnable to automatically map your connections to the right containers when running in Isolation.
This is a unique URL that is generated per container. This is the URL that appears on the web toolbar on the containers page and your Github PR page. For example, if your container is launched from the
web repository template and your org name is
AcmeCorp, the Environment URL for this container is going to be
2lvd9y-web-staging-acmecorp.runnableapp.com. This article walks through the process of accessing the Environment URL from within a container.
Use the Environment URL when trying to access your container's output or sharing with a teammate for review.
